Celebrate the wins
It is so important that you celebrate your wins as a salesperson, especially the big ones. In the early days of my last business, I can remember counting how many boxes (products) we had sold each week, then we started counting how many pallets were going out. Pretty soon we were counting the number of containers that were being delivered. It then reached a point when we couldn’t count on one hand how many factories we were utilising.
When a business is growing in this way it is very easy to keep pushing forward and never taking time to stop and celebrate the victories.
The standout moments for me were when we hit sales of $1m in a single month, and that was swiftly followed by ‘Million Dollar Monday’ when a million dollars’ worth of business came in in a single day.
Your rewards do not have to be super-expensive. A day out to a sporting event, driving some fast cars around a track or a nice meal. Do somethin
g that will be memorable and celebrate your success.Life as a salesperson can be tough and very pressurised. Make sure you celebrate your wins. Take the time out to say, “well done”. If your company does not recognise your small victory, make sure that you recognise it yourself and reward yourself. If you used the Denham Method to get there, drop me a line and I’ll raise a glass to you!
